WELCOME TO CAMP NORSE

Summer Camp photo with Norse Up

Each summer, Camp Norse invites students entering grades 1–10 to explore new interests, build confidence, and experience learning on Northern Kentucky University’s campus. Our summer day camps combine hands-on activities, creativity, and real-world skills in a fun, supportive environment.

From fairy tales and global cultures to leadership, design, and life skills, Camp Norse offers engaging themes that spark curiosity while helping students develop skills they’ll use in school and beyond. Campers also get a taste of college life as they learn alongside NKU educators and explore campus spaces.

Why Camp Norse?

Camp Norse campers will:

  • Explore themed, interactive learning experiences designed for their grade level
  • Build confidence, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Make new friends in a welcoming campus community
  • Learn from NKU staff and educators in a college setting
  • Lunch & snacks are included! We dine every day at Norse Commons, our campus cafeteria, and the highlight of every camper's day!

Camps offer activities designed to balance structured learning, creativity, and play.

Fairy Tales

June 1-4
Grades 1-2

Step into a world of magic, imagination, and adventure at Fairy Tale Camp! Through creative storytelling, imaginative play, arts and crafts, music, games, and themed activities, children will explore classic and modern fairy tales while creating stories of their own.

Board Game Design

June 8-12
Grades 5-6

Students study, analyze, and then create their own games based on a topic/subject of their choosing, with the intent of furthering literacy, art, critical thinking, problem-solving, research, and cooperation skills. The game development process has been proven to deepen abstract and critical thinking skills. By creating their own Roll & Move game, students may also be better equipped to tackle problems in their own lives or communities, interrogate choices they and others have made, and probe difficult subjects in ways previously unavailable to them.

*Campers who participated in this camp last year can come back and continue developing their game!  Or work on something new!

Living Things

June 15-18
Grades 3-4

Discover the amazing world of living things at Living Beings Camp! Campers will explore plants, and animals while learning what classifies something as a living being. Each day encourages curiosity and observation as campers care for plants, explore habitats, learn about animals, and discover the importance of respecting all forms of life. Activities are designed to spark scientific thinking, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for nature.

Fashion Through the Years

June 22-26
Grades 3-4

Travel through time at Fashion Through the Years Camp! Campers will explore how clothing and style have changed from the past to the present, discovering iconic looks from different decades and cultures. Through creative design projects, art activities, and games, children will learn how fashion reflects history, and self-expression.

Around the World Cup

June 29 - July 3
Grades 1-2

Get ready to kick, run, and explore the world! Our World Cup Camp is designed for campers who love to move and play. Each day, campers will “travel” to a different country, learning about its culture through games, crafts, and music, all inspired by the excitement of the World Cup. Campers will build basic soccer skills through fun drills, team games, and mini matches, with a focus on teamwork and confidence.

K-Pop Demon Hunters

July 7-10
Grades 1-2

Get ready to sing, dance, and save the day! At K-Pop Demon Hunters Summer Camp, campers step into an exciting world where music, teamwork, and courage come together. Inspired by the adventurous spirit of K-Pop Demon Hunters, campers will become heroes who use their talents to battle imaginary villains and spread positive energy.

Emerging Leaders

July 27-31
Grades 5-6

Campers spend the week developing their unique leadership style by learning about the elements of leadership, assessing their strengths, and exploring the leadership of notable figures throughout history. Campers participate in service-learning projects to benefit local community partners.

Life Skills Lab

August 3-5
8:30 am - 12:00 pm
Grades 9-10

A holistic approach to prepare young folks for the challenges of adulthood. Covering financial literacy, job application strategies, and effective communication, the program integrates theoretical knowledge with hands-on learning.
